Hello :)

Where did August and September go?

Who stole the summer?

One minute you're sending out the 31 July edition of yakety yak, the next you're sending out the 3 October edition and wondering where the summer went...

Apologies for the long gap between issues of yakety yak - normal (sporadic) service is now resumed.

Stats entertainment - how not to get into a jam with your reporting

One of the things we've been busy with while summer quietly slipped away, is planning and creating a series of blog posts for chinwag about how to present and interpret stats for business and marketing.

The pun-tastic "Stats entertainment" series kicked off with an explanation of why stats are fun, not scary; the second post is a tutorial in working with percentages; and the third is about creating a KPI dashboard to help you compare one set of stats to another.

We'll be following up these posts with a few more, which explain what Meatloaf will do for love, who Argentina should and shouldn't cry for, and what Rick Astley will never do.

Confused? Visit chinwag and go: "ahhhh, I see..."

Self-serve newsletters are on their way

We're currently developing a new self-serve version of our fully managed newsletter service.

The new service will be perfect for organisations who want to have a branded, mail client tested template designed and created by debbidoo, but who would like to keep costs down by handling their own broadcasts.

We're just in the process of building the product spec and setting prices, before launching the service in a couple of weeks' time.

We'll provide full details in the next edition of yakety yak.

From the blogs

At chinwag, when we've not been blogging about statistics, we've been complaining about those annoying telesales people that won't take "no" for an answer.

We've also been blogging about some of our favourite adverts, including the Gtech Sweeper ad ("whoosh - your cleaning's done") and a funny story about the latest drumming gorilla ad from Cadbury's. We're very bemused to find how popular these posts are; you'd be surprised how many people search for these ads on Google every day. Along with the "Wii arm" post, these are the most popular posts on the blog... weird, that.

Meanwhile, over at a blog named desire, we've been longing to meet the dancing queen, wishing for some scented soy candles, and lamenting the fact that we're too busy to help translate the Bible into lolspeak (this is another one that's bemused us; we're amazed how many people Google "ceiling cat" every day).
